These are sites and software programs we use often and have found them to be very beneficial.

With Windows IE Explorer and Outlook under constant attack by spam, viruses, spybots, worms, Trojan horses, pop ups, adware and other malicious programs, it is time to consider a replacement program that will minimize or eliminate the problem. The replacement programs Thunderbird and Firefox are safe replacement programs with more functionality than the programs they replace. Each program will accept and incorporate the favorites and addresses of IE Explorer and Outlook.

Managing or viewing large amounts of data files, photos, music, videos are not done well with the native Windows programs. Third party programs such as Compupic and Powerdesk give you the ability to manage and display virtually any file on your computer. Check out the trial or freeware programs below.

Replace Windows My Computer

Two programs that excel in visually managing your photo files are CompuPic and AcDsee. Creating or managing hundreds of jpg camera files can be overwhelming. Both of these programs offer you split windows that show the computer devices attached to your system, an expandable photo view and a third screen showing thumbnail views of all photos the program finds. Each program allows you to manipulate a photo by rotating, brightening, darkening, scaling size, flipping, convert file formats, add text, and remove redeye. You can send via email, to a printer, sort images, burn to CD-Rom, create slide shows, create screen savers, and make wallpaper. They can each read the usual Bmp, jpeg, tif, pcx and many other formats. They are simple to use and offer you free downloadable trial versions to test them on your system. Microsoft does not come equipped with a program that offers you this many options to view and manipulate photo files.
