Tips/Tricks for Monitor Resolution...

Monitor Resolution Problems & Solutions

To display our On-Line Previews using the Flash Display Program, you will need a screen capable of at least 1024 x 768 pixels. Most older machines may have a 14, 15 or 17 inch monitor set to 640 x 480 or 800 x 600 pixels. This lower resolution was designed for a smaller size monitor and will not have enough vertical height to display the entire Photo Gallery on your monitor.

The following suggestions are Windows Monitor & Software tips for non destructive ways to increase the vertical resolution being displayed on your monitor.

The following steps may assist you in eliminating the viewing problem by making text and photos smaller so more information appears on the screen.

The two examples below show the monitor on the left at a low screen resolution. The monitor on the right has been adjusted to a higher resolution and shows more information on the screen allowing you to see the entire Flash Preview.

1. Adjust Monitor Resolution: Always try this first because it will reset the screen resolution your monitor is capable of displaying.

  • Place your mouse cursor on the desktop, right click with the mouse and select properties in the dialog box.

  • The window will say Display Properties, select the "Settings" tab.

  • In the screen resolution section you will see the monitor resolution that is currently set. Example: 640x480, 800x600 ect.

  • If the slider arrow allows you to select the resolution  1024 x 768 or higher, set it for a higher resolution. This will make the pixels displayed smaller giving you more height in the screen allowing you to see the flash player.

  • Once you select "Apply" the screen will go dark and reappear at the new resolution. You must hit yes to accept this resolution or it will revert back to the original.

  • Be sure to select a resolution that makes text easily readable for your taste. If the resolution is too high for your monitor screen size, keep adjusting it until you find a resolution that works for you.

  • You can reverse this process by following all steps again and selecting any resolution.

2. Remove Browser Tool Bars: For Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox.

  • Temporarily remove the toolbars at the top of the browser. Go to "View", select menu "Toolbars". Uncheck any toolbars that have a check next to them. This should give you additional vertical screen space.

  • To restore any tool bars just place a check next to the tool bar you wish to bring back.

3. Hide the Windows Taskbar: The Windows Task bar at the base of the screen can be placed on auto hide. It will disappear unless you get a mouse cursor close to it and then it will reappear. This will give you additional vertical screen space in which to help see more of the preview screen.

  • Go to "Start" button at the lower left, then select "Settings", then select "Taskbar & Start Menu", place a check mark inside " Auto hide the Taskbar".

  • To get the taskbar back to non auto hide just take the check mark out of the box.
